Առյուծը վնասել է խնամողի ձեռքը

Հոկտեմբերի 29-ին` ժամը 16:00-ի սահմաններում Երևանի կենդանաբանական այգու գիշատիչների բաժնի խնամող Վարդան Գրիգորյանի ձեռքը վնասել է այգու առյուծներից մեկը: Դեպքը տեղի է ունեցել աշխատակցի անուշադրության պատճառով, երբ վերջինս հատել է առյուծներին մոտենալու անթույլատրելի սահմանը` խախտելով գիշատիչների հետ աշխատանքի անվտանգության կանոնակարգը: Այգու անվտանգության աշխատակից Հենրի Մերխոշյանի արագ արձագանքման և ճիշտ գործողությունների շնորհիվ Վարդանին հաջողվել է ազատել և շտապ բուժօգնություն ցուցաբերել: Հավելենք, որ խնամողի աշխատանքային երկարամյա փորձը կամ գիտելիքները չեն կարող բացառել նմանատիպ դեպքերը, եթե նա կորցնում է զգոնությունը, ապավինում կենդանու հետ իր «հատուկ կապվածությանը», չի հետևում անվտանգության սահմանված կանոնակարգին: Վարդան Գրիգորյանին, ով աշխատում է Երևանի կենդանաբանական այգում արդեն 4.5 տարի, վնասել է Զևս անունով առյուծը, որը ծնվել է Երևանի կենդանաբանական այգում 2008 թվականին: Այս ...[more]

“Mary”. The Walnut

On October 24th, one more tree has been planted at Yerevan Zoo, near the Tiger’s new exhibit. This small walnut is not a common tree, but a titular one, donated by 1 year old Mari Harutyunyan within the “Friends of Yerevan Zoo” initiative.  "We wanted to have our small contribution to the Zoo’s development, and we wanted it to be useful. We do hope that our walnut tree will provide breezy evenings for the visitors at the Zoo",-says Mary's mother, Yeva Petrosyan, who plans to plant  her second tree at the Zoo now on behalf of Mari’s newborn cousin.   [more]

German+animal care=Squirrel Monkey Adoption

On 22 October in the frame of “Caring Hands” programme 931/1 students grou for the 2015-2016 academic year adopted one of Zoo’s one of the black squirrel monkeys. Adoption was initiated by the German lecturer Julietta Miskaryan and was one of educational informative programme part at the Yerevan Zoo. In order to have not only theoretical, but practical knowledge as well, 20-members student group since the adoption days before spent about two hours at the Zoo not as a visitor but as an animal keeper. They were divided into small groups and joined to keeper’s daily work. It was decided during the visit which animal to choose for adoption. The Partnership, the German Guides and the College of Humanities

Last Thursday, the Yerevan Zoo was extremely full and good weather was only one of the reasons. It all started two weeks ago. The initiator of the project titled “Caring hands” is the German teacher Julietta Miskaryan from the College of Humanities in Yerevan, the main purpose of which is to involve students in an environmental movement on promoting the sustainable development. The student group 931/1 has chosen animals and their care as their research subject and the Yerevan Zoo as a working space. On October 22nd, the animal signboards at the Zoo went alive and started speaking German to visitors. In order to provide more practical knowledge, the students spent two hours at the zoo in the capacity of animal keepers. The Yerevan Zoo highly successful at EAZA Annual Conference in Wroclaw, Poland

From September 15th to September 20th, the Yerevan Zoo attended the EAZA Annual Conference hosted by the Wroclaw Zoo in Poland. Around 360 European zoos, zoological institutions and aquariums gather for the annual grand meeting to share their expertise and new developments gained in the field once a year. The Yerevan zoo has presented its recent progress and new plans for the upcoming two years in front of 700 delegates and has been praised by zoo professionals for their achievements. “As the EAZA mentor for Yerevan Zoo I am very proud of the superb results Director Ruben Khachatryan and his team have achieved.
